just stuff

Yes, it's a new month, and more shit happens. Luckily its nothing serious.

The youngster had his first (and I hope last, but that's probably wishful thinking) car accident. He's fine. Well, he has a nasty cold, but it has nothing to to with the accident. He was the third car back at a light that turned yellow. The first car stopped short. the second car did the same to aviod the first. The youngster stopped short to avoid what was in front of him. The fourth car didn't. he got rear ended, but not violently. The car needs some work and is in the shop.

Sunday morning he travelled to Gainsville for a bike race. His buddies wanted to do it, although none of them ever had been in a real race. Two dads took them down for it on a very chilly morning. They had fun, but came nowhere close to winning. One group from South Florida showed up with teams in each age group using racing tactics and stuff. They pretty much smoked everybody. Our guys were just there pedaling as fast as they could, and that wasn't going to cut it. Still, like I said, they had a good time and learned a little about bike racing. After that, the youngster came home and almost immediately started feeling bad. he stayed home from school yesterday with a cold.

I'm still battling one of those. I'm feeling pretty good now, but still not 100%. I'll get there though.

I hope anyone still reading this place is doing well. I know I don't come close to updating it like I used to, but I seem to have less to say and not enough time to say it.

new month

Well, we're starting a new month, and hopefully that means all the drama is done. I realize that just because the date changed to the 1st of a new month really doesn't matter all that much, but a guy can hope, can't he?

The TV/entertainment center issue is all resolved. The wall is painted, the old stuff is gone and the new stuff is in, and looks pretty damn good if I do say so myself. I still have one wiring issue that's a minor detail, but I'll straighten that out one day. The TV works, the DVD player works and both happen in surround sound. The CD player works and can be heard either inside or through the speakers on the back porch...so all the important stuff is doing what it should.

The youngster/girl/toilet paper episode is long behind us. The only piece of that still grates on me is the kid who pissed on the youngster's car never apologized. His mother came over and did, but she's not the one who did the deed. I know. Let it go...and I pretty much have. The fact that it doesn't seem right isn't my problem.

So on to February. Let's get through another month of winter. Hopefully I'll get the taxes done while keeping warm and no other costly surprises come our way. To put it all in perspective though, I consider myself pretty blessed. Considering the state of the world right now, all I have to whine about is having to get a new TV and a mess in the driveway. The wife and I still have jobs and have a nice roof over our heads. No earthquakes. I'm battling a cold, but no major illness. No layoffs...yet. I have a lot to be grateful for.
