better than expected news

No, it didn't all just go away, but now that the picture is clearer, it's not as nasty as my imagination was letting it get. Not even close.

The wife will have to have surgery to have some tissue removed, but the oncologist said it's very treatable and can be taken care of. Once the surgery happens, she'll be monitored every few months to make sure they got it all. He saw no reason doubt that she'll be fine. In the spectrum of possibilities, this was extremely good news.

He likened it to going to the dermatologist and having lesions removed before they become a serious skin cancer issue, and then going back to make sure nothing else crops up.

Yes, she still has to have surgery, and that's never great news, but in the realm of possibilities, we're thankful that we are where we are.
