just stuff

Yes, it's a new month, and more shit happens. Luckily its nothing serious.

The youngster had his first (and I hope last, but that's probably wishful thinking) car accident. He's fine. Well, he has a nasty cold, but it has nothing to to with the accident. He was the third car back at a light that turned yellow. The first car stopped short. the second car did the same to aviod the first. The youngster stopped short to avoid what was in front of him. The fourth car didn't. he got rear ended, but not violently. The car needs some work and is in the shop.

Sunday morning he travelled to Gainsville for a bike race. His buddies wanted to do it, although none of them ever had been in a real race. Two dads took them down for it on a very chilly morning. They had fun, but came nowhere close to winning. One group from South Florida showed up with teams in each age group using racing tactics and stuff. They pretty much smoked everybody. Our guys were just there pedaling as fast as they could, and that wasn't going to cut it. Still, like I said, they had a good time and learned a little about bike racing. After that, the youngster came home and almost immediately started feeling bad. he stayed home from school yesterday with a cold.

I'm still battling one of those. I'm feeling pretty good now, but still not 100%. I'll get there though.

I hope anyone still reading this place is doing well. I know I don't come close to updating it like I used to, but I seem to have less to say and not enough time to say it.

Yes it was, Jess (about 500 yards away, maybe)...and it was kinda surreal. There was security stuff all over the place. They hired half the Sheriff's dept working overtimne, and then other security people. I had to talk my way past one of them to get to work, because apparently, while walking from where they made us park, half a mile away, I took an unauthorized sort cut.
Once you got in though, the place was deserted. no cars in the club parking lot. No people anywhere. They weren't letting anyone near the clubhouse. We saw a limo pull up, but couldn't see if anyone was actually in it. A helicopter circled for hours - my guess, tabloid picture takers.
Then, by 1:00, it was all over. The security folks disappeared and the parking lot was still deserted.
For me, not all that exciting. Just...strange.
