how the other half lives
I'm not at all in favor of the Executive branch of our government refusing to make people available to testify in front of Congress, but let's not get all self righteous, kick the selective memory in, and pretend like this is the first administration to do that. I think it's wrong. I think it's wrong now and I thought it was wrong when the last administration did the same thing...or did we all forget the famous quote one unnamed spouse of a member of the Executive branch used to defend the move...
"We are the President!"
I remember thinking...What's this WE business? YOU ain't shit.
Looking back, I couldn't have been more wrong. I just hope we don't end up stepping in her.
Still Dubya, "but they did it" doesn't make it OK for you to do it too.

The only part of this I'm going to touch is how you can even moderately defend Ann Coulter and still feel justified calling Hillary shit. Johnny, Johnny, Johnny. You've stepped in your own black hole, you know. :-) It's a Catch-22, darlin'...
You got me. I'm human. I can do it only because I don't despise Ann Coulter like I do Hillary Clinton, and Ann doesn't have the ability to diretly affect my life like Hillary could.
Ann can only write opinion, and sticks and stones and all that. If she had a realistic chance of being more than that, I'd take her more seriously. There's a chance, however slim I'd like to think it is, Hillary could do a lot more, and I'll be honest. If that happens, I'll survive, but I won't like it. I can only believe she has about the same effect on me that I assume Dubya has on you.
Ann Coulter serves a useful purpose for me. She does things like remind me that the liberal on the other side of the cubicle wall warned me before the last election that Dubya was bringing back the draft within a year. If it wasn't for her, I would have forgotten that Chicken Little threat, and wouldn't have called him on it. Of course, Hillary might call me mean spirited for that, but facts is still facts.
Now, in the bizarre world from hell where President Hillary is giving the State of the Union Address and the camera constantly pans to Senator Ann Coulter from New York doing her infamous eye roll, you might actually hear me call her a disrespectful bitch as well. You really might.
If your "bizarre world from hell" ever comes to fruition, we're going to my island.
It's important for me to say here that while some things Hillary says I appreciate (healthcare for one, "it takes a village" for another) I agree she isn't the right choice. I'm slightly caught, because I think it is time our society recognizes that women -- especially those married to presidents -- aren't supposed to be simpering (think Laura), but I agree "we are the president" perhaps overstepped the line. She's strong, though, and I respect her for that. Sometimes I think she may be smarter than her husband, but she definitely doesn't have his charisma. She's shrill. And that will kill her with the voters.
So maybe this will be Barack's turn. But probably not. It will likely be a contest between two white guys who aren't the best options. Like usual. Proving that nothing's really changed. And that makes me sad, and in a strange way brings us full circle to your earlier comments this week regarding the "white guys."
